What is a minor?

A minor is a concentration in an area that is not as in-depth as a major, but can be added to a major to broaden or deepen your skills and knowledge in a particular area of interest. This is an interdisciplinary minor, which means it draws from several disciplines to provide different perspectives as you study.

Courses you'll take

The minor in Museum and Curatorial Studies requires 18 credits (6 courses) and combines three required courses with elective courses from your area of interest, as determined with the program director.

Required Courses:

  • MC 200 Introduction to Museum and Curatorial Studies
  • MC 313/AR 313 Museums and Materials
  • MC 400 Capstone in Museum and Curatorial Studies

Elective courses:

Elective courses can be chosen from your area of interest, as determined with the program director. These electives must be taken in at least two disciplines, and at least 6 hours of electives must be at the upper-division level. This study plan must be approved before a student completes coursework in the minor program.
