New Student Orientation

Students who attend New Student Orientation will be prepared with crucial information for a successful transition their first year at Washburn University. Orientation provides students the opportunity to meet with current students, faculty and staff, learn expectations of the academic setting, and register for their first semester courses.

  • Learn tips and tricks from current Washburn students
  • Explore how we use technology for learning
  • Meet with an advisor and register for classes
  • Finalize details about where to live, finances, etc.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is a full-day program, beginning around 8:00 a.m. and ending by 5:00 p.m., with lunch provided. Parents and guests are welcome to attend. There is currently no fee to attend orientation.

  • Thursday, May 28, 2020
  • Friday, May 29, 2020
  • Thursday, June 11, 2020
  • Friday, June 12, 2020
  • Thursday, June 18, 2020
  • Friday, June 19, 2020
  • Friday, June 26, 2020
  • Wednesday, August 12, 2020

Registration for orientation will open on January 15th and spots are first-come, first serve.

To register for an orientation session, use your email address and password that you used for your Washburn admissions application - not your Washburn email address.

Transfer Student Orientation

Transfer Student Orientation is a half-day program. Parents and guests are welcome to attend. There is currently no fee to attend orientation. Transfer students are not required to attend orientation, but highly encouraged.

Orientation for incoming summer or fall 2020 students:
  • Friday, March 27, 2020
  • Thursday, August 6, 2020

Registration will open for summer and fall 2020 students on January 15th. To register for an orientation session, use your email address and password that you used for your Washburn admissions application - not your Washburn email address.

What to Bring to Orientation

  • Bring photo identification to get your Washburn Student ID.
  • Your MyWashburn login information to enroll into classes.
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts (for students who are transferring college credit from a different institution).
  • Comfy shoes and clothes. Consider that your iCard photo will be a head-and-shoulders photo.
  • Questions! We hope to provide you with answers to "take care of business" before you start classes at Washburn.
