Dr. Waters completed an internship through the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a post-doctoral fellowship through the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children.  She worked as a licensed psychologist prior to joining Washburn University.

Service Interests/Activities

Dr. Waters serves on various committees, including the Institutional Review Board, Scholarly/Creative WTE Grant Committee, and Graduate Committee.  She has been a reviewer of presentation proposals for professional conferences.  Community service activities have included mentorship programs for at risk youth and working with parents to improve their children's reading skills.   

Career Accomplishments

Dr. Waters graduated summa cum laude from Truman State University and passed her doctoral level comprehensive examinations with honors.   Since beginning her academic career she has published a chapter in a major medical text, an article in the national Journal of Human Services, and an article in the the international Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy.
