- Dr. Piper has a rich professional background in academia, child welfare, early childhood education, and public health. She has provided family and human services directly in roles like Family Support Worker at TFI Family Services, Executive Director at Oak Grove Preschool, and Bureau Director of Family Health at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. She is a member of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) and the Family Science Association. She has presented numerous times at NCFR's annual conference and has guest lectured on topics such as grandfamilies (i.e., grandparents raising grandchildren), intergenerational relationships, and human development and aging issues.
