Bonner Leaders

The Bonner Leaders Program at Washburn University is a national service scholarship program supported by the Bonner Foundation in Princeton, NJ.  Washburn University recognizes the dedication and accomplishments of the students in this program by conferring the university honor of Bonner Leaders upon graduation after successful completion of at least three full years with the program.

Leaders of Tomorrow

We believe leadership is best learned by doing. Students in the Aleshire Center for Leadership and Community Engagement can apply for a formal leadership role to help create and implement co-curricular leadership and community engagement programming for their peers. The primary areas of focus for co-curricular activities include programming and recruitment, community and advocacy, and Leadership Challenge Event™ planning. For information on how to get involved, contact Dr. Madeline Lambing at madeline.lambing@washburn.edu.

Leadership Challenge Event™

Each year, the Aleshire Center hosts an annual leadership competition for high school and college students called the Leadership Challenge Event™. This event is the only one of its kind, challenging participating teams to demonstrate leadership as individuals and within teams to complete challenges and overcome obstacles placed before them throughout the interactive simulation. This event is created and executed by Aleshire Center students for high school and college students across the country while also involving over 150 local community, campus and student volunteers.
