Scholarship Applications

Scholarship applications are available in the CIS Department office and/or CIS website, and are usually due in mid-February for the following academic year.

Minority Women in STEM Scholarship

The Minority Women in STEM Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Washburn University College of Arts and Sciences to incoming high school students who have been successful in high school and have an interest in studying Computer Information Science or Pre-Engineering. It provides $4,000 per year for up to four years at Washburn. Four scholarships are available. Learn more about the scholarship.

Incoming Freshman CIS Scholarships

This scholarship is for incoming Freshman planning to major in Computer Information Sciences. It is awarded based on a student’s academic skills and potential. The student needs to be accepted at Washburn and apply for the scholarship on or before February 15 for the following academic year.

Terry & Judy Kimes Scholarship

The Terry & Judy Kimes Scholarship Fund was established through a gift from Terry & Judy Kimes. Awarded to freshmen or sophomores with a GPA of 3.0 or better intending to major in business or computer science. Preference is given to students from Shawnee County high schools.

Kaw Valley Scholarship

This Scholarship Fund was established through a gift from Kaw Valley Data Processing Management Association (DPMA). Award(s) from this fund shall be made to any qualified student(s) who is/are properly enrolled at Washburn University, majoring in the field of computer information sciences.

American Legion Scholarship

This Scholarship Fund was established through a gift from the American Legion Auxiliary Capitol Unit No. 1. Awarded to any qualified student(s) who is/are enrolled in the business or computer science programs with preference given to those students who are veterans or dependents of veterans who have served in the military.

AT&T Computer Information Sciences Scholarship

Established for the benefit of full-time undergraduate students majoring in CIS. Preference given to first-generation students and students from diverse background.

Walter I. & Teresa T. Cole Endowed Scholarship

This Scholarship Fund was established through a gift from Walter and Teresa Cole. Awarded to any full-time undergraduate student(s) who is/are properly enrolled for academic study.

Professor Rick & Betty Barker Freshman Computing Scholarship

Established for incoming freshmen intending to study computing at Washburn.

Nan Sun & Baili Zhang Excellence in Computing Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established by Nan Sun and Baili Zhang for the benefit of students majoring in Computer Information Sciences, at any level of undergraduate study.

Phillip & Jeryl Hauptman Scholarship for Diversity in Computer Information Sciences

Established by Phillip & Jeryl Hauptman for the benefit of students from diverse backgrounds who are studying computer science, at any level of their undergraduate education.

CIS Scholarship Fund
