What is the mission of Student Health Services?

Student Health Services exists to enhance the learning and development of students (and staff/faculty), through the provision of holistic health care, with a strong emphasis on culturally sensitive education, prevention, affordability and patient advocacy.

What does it cost to be seen at Student Health Services?

All students who are currently enrolled at WU can be seen at no charge for urgent care needs, routine physical exams, well woman exams, healthcare education, and care of stable chronic care conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes.  There is a fee for immunizations, TB testing, lab and x-ray.

What if I have a mental health issue?

Staff at Student Health Services collaborates with WU Counseling Services for students experiencing depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD and other emotional/psychological conditions.   

What is an advanced registered nurse practitioner?

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (APRN) are expert clinicians with advanced training who provide a full range of services including advanced health assessment; ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests; diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions; prescribing medications and treatments; health education; and managing overall patient care. 

What if I want to see a doctor?

Students always have the right to see a physician of their choice at their own expense. Referrals are made on a case by case basis.  Student Health Services also works with a variety of other physicians and healthcare specialists in the community.

What if I am not 18? 

Students who are not 18 years of age will need to have the consent of their parent/guardian prior to being seen in SHS.
This parental consent form must be notarized.
