Master of Health Science Post-Graduate Certificate - 9 credit hours

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates for admission to the Post-Graduate Certificate in Health Care Education must have already obtained a clinical master’s or doctorate in an Allied Health profession and have two years professional work experience in a health care environment. Professional experience may include but is not limited to, health care administration, health information technology, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, radiologic technology, dental hygiene, or other health care specialty. 

According to the National League for Nursing, a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing + 9 hours of graduate-level education courses meet the educational eligibility requirements to sit for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam. Therefore, this 9-hour post-graduate certificate that includes courses in foundational theory, assessment in healthcare education and curriculum and instruction fulfills this requirement.

Application Process

  1. Complete the Online Graduate Application (select Certificate Seeking when prompted). The online graduate application requires that you:
    • Create an account.
    • Pay an application fee ($40).
    • Upload unofficial transcripts of graduate coursework.
    • Acknowledge an attestation clause regarding the program’s schedule and requirements.
  1. Submit official graduate transcripts reflecting graduate degree earned to Washburn University Admissions using one of the following methods:
    • Send electronically to etranscripts@washburn.edu
    • Send via U.S. mail to Washburn University, Admissions, 1700 SW College Ave., Topeka, KS 66621.

Requirements for Earning the Post-Graduate Certificate

  1. Complete the 9-credit hour graded course sequence with at least a 3.0 grade point average. A student receiving a "C" may retake the course, but only one time.
