Meagan Smejdir joined the Washburn community as an Academic Advisor in the Center for Student Success in February 2018. Prior to joining the Center for Student Success, Meagan served as the Fraternity/Sorority Advisor at Pittsburg State University, and as the Assistant Director of Collegiate Experience at Alpha Omicron Pi headquarters. Meagan earned her Master of Science in Counseling and Student Development from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Translation/Interpretation from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.




Kaydee Emperley, Academic AdvisorKaydee Emperley, Senior Academic Advisor   

Kaydee Emperley joined the Academic Advising Office in February 2012.  Kaydee works primarily with student-athletes and students interested in transferring to Washburn as well as a small population of first and second year undeclared students.  She also plays a role in several sections of WU101 The Washburn Experience.  Prior to coming to Washburn, Kaydee earned her Master of Science in Counseling and Student Development with an Emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics from Kansas State University.  Kaydee also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Benedictine College.

Nick McClung joined the Academic Advising Office in June 2022. He has experience serving high school and college students as a recruiter for Mississippi Delta Community College and as a tutoring coordinator for the Upward Bound II Program at Mississippi Valley State University. He earned his Bachelors of Arts in English-Literature from Mississippi Valley State University. He is also a Washburn graduate; he completed his Masters of Arts in Communication and Leadership in 2021! He is happy to be at Washburn and ready to continue his journey of impacting students while they simultaneously impact him.
