Leslie Winfield Halbe took pictures of Kansas from 1908 to 1912. He was born in Dorrance, Kansas, and his pictures were taken in Dorrence and the surrounding counties. He began taking pictures when he was fifteen years old. Halbe's pictures became significant because he portrayed small-town Kansas and the Midwest before WWI. In 1912 Halbe quit photography to go to college at the University of Missouri, where he recieved a law degree. Halbe died in 1981 in Florida.*
