Film Fest

WIFI is dedicated to promoting and celebrating film production, stories from the Midwest, and education at Washburn University, in the Topeka community, and in the state of Kansas. The WIFI film festival is linked to Washburn’s WU-mester which is Citizenship and Suffrage. 


Festival Dates: April 2-4, 2020

Location: Washburn Campus and Jayhawk Theatre

Submission information and dates:  

  • The 2020 WIFI Film Festival is now accepting submissions on FilmFreeway:
    • Earlybird Deadline: Jan. 15, 2020 
    • Regular Deadline: Feb. 15, 2020 
    • Late Deadline: March 13, 2020 
  • Submission to the WIFI festival is free for all students 
  • Submission to the WIFI festival is free for all Washburn students and alumni 
  • All types of submissions are welcome. See our categories.
  • Films that are selected for screening will be announced on March 13, 2020. 
  • Award winners will be announced at the awards reception on April 4, 2020.
