The 2020 WIFI Film Festival is now accepting submissions on FilmFreeway

  • Earlybird Deadline: Jan. 15, 2020 

  • Regular Deadline: Feb. 15, 2020 

  • Late Deadline: March 13, 2020 

In 2020, we are having a special focus on women and film to correspond to Washburn University’s WU Mester 2020. We will be having a special focus on films both by and about women. We will also feature an accomplished female director from Hollywood. This guest will be officially announced soon. 

New in 2020 will be acceptance of both long and short-form screenplays 

All student and Washburn University alumni submissions are free. We welcome amateur and professional filmmakers to apply. Films that are selected for screening will be announced on March 13, 2020. Award winners will be announced at the awards reception on April 4, 2020.  

The WIFI Film Festival will run from Thursday, April 2 to Saturday, April 4, 2020, on Washburn University’s campus and at the Jayhawk Theatre in downtown Topeka. The festival is open and free to attend for everyone. 

The WIFI 2020 festival will feature films from both professional and amateur filmmakers from around the world. The inaugural film festival featured over 70 films from 16 different countries. We were able to show films from a wide variety of filmmakers including Shia LaBeouf, an Academy Award-winning film “Skin”, and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Yasmin Mistry.
