What to expect in Mabee Library – Fall 2020

Mabee Library and the Center for Student Success want to welcome you safely into our spaces as we continue to provide socially distanced study spaces on our main and upper levels. The basement level of Mabee is currently CLOSED except for Nursing and Leadership Classes/Students.

Use of Mabee Library is restricted Faculty, Staff and Students. Everyone in the library is expected to maintain 6-foot social distancing.

All users of the Library are required to wear a mask. Please see Washburn University’s mask policy.

All students are required to sign-in and out using Navigate upon entering and exiting the Library.

  • General sign-in occurs on the main level of the Mabee, immediately upon entering the main doors.
  • General sign-out occurs on the main level of the Mabee, immediately before exiting the main doors.
  • Students entering the Mabee for class in the basement level, sign-in and out using Navigate in the basement.
  • Students entering the Mabee for Math classes and/or Math success services, sign-in and out using Navigate on the third floor.

Printing in Mabee Library is different this semester due to social distancing. View printing instructions.

Computers are available, though capacity has been reduced so that work areas are appropriately spaced to support social distancing. We recommend that students bring their own laptops to the library when possible. Mabee Library also offers online service. To access electronic Library services, please visit:

Consuming drinks in the Library is allowed using a straw, while wearing a mask, throughout the Library. Eating food is restricted to the tiled floor area adjacent to the Study Grounds Coffee Shop, on our main level.

Users/Visitors are responsible for sanitizing their individual workspace. We have set up multiple Sanitization Stations in the library with disinfectant and paper towels so you can clean your workspace, and hand sanitizer is also placed throughout the library.

Follow the designated Library Traffic Patterns, especially around stairwells, elevators and access points when moving through the building so we can reduce congestion and risk of transmission.

Library stacks are closed. Library users are not allowed to access or browse physical collections housed in the library stacks. The process for checking out materials has changed. Watch a video about how to check out a book

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mabee is not currently hosting in-person programs, no room and/or space reservations are possible and no minors are currently allowed into the Library.
