Washburn’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically amplified the critical role that technology plays in the student experience.  Students and employees need access to technology to support and engage in the online learning environment.

If you are a student or employee without Internet access

  • Complete this Wifi Hotspot Request Form.  While supplies last, we will reach out to you with information about the availability of our FREE WiFi Hotspot checkout program. 
  • If you are without reliable home internet, you can also explore these off-campus internet access resources.
  • During this time, the ITS Help Desk continues to be available Monday through Thursday, 7am-10pm, Friday & Saturday 8am-5pm and Sunday 1pm-10pm, by phone and email (785) 670-3000 or support@washburn.edu.

Technology Checkout Program  

How do I participate in this program, and is there a cost?

  • Access to WiFi Hotspot program is free for all WU students and employees during this pandemic.

How/when do I find out if I'll be receiving a device from this program?

  • After you submit the Wifi Hotspot Request Form, we will email you within 2 business days to inform you about whether the WiFi hotspot is available.

When would I receive a device?

  • Starting in April 2020, we will offer a limited number of pick-up dates.  The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting supply chains and delivery times; we are doing our best to meet students' technology needs expediently.

  • Loan duration
    • Up to 3 months
  • Specs and other notes
    • Hardware and service plan available.  For students and employees living in Sprint service area only.
