Endowed Scholarships

Interested mass media majors are invited to apply for a scholarship by completing the Mass Media Scholarship Application located on the Mass Media Department D2L space and returning it to the department secretary by the deadline listed on the application. The endowed scholarships will amount to at least $250 each, and will be presented through standard Financial Aid Office guidelines and procedures. Mass Media majors enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during the spring semester and who will be taking at least 12 hours in the fall semester are eligible for consideration. The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final.

Criteria used to award endowed scholarships:

  1. Applicants must be declared mass media majors;
  2. To apply for endowed scholarships, a student must have a minimum of 3.0 overall GPA and 3.3 in the major;
  3. Students may receive both endowed scholarships and GPA scholarships.  Actual amount of GPA award will be determined by the Financial Aid Office;
  4. In addition to the GPA, students must demonstrate that they have participated in activities that are directly or indirectly related to utilization of skills developed as the result of Mass Media classes.
  5. Briefly state why you should be awarded one of the endowed mass media scholarships.  (Please type on a separate sheet of paper and attach to your application.)

Incoming Student Requirements:

Incoming mass media majors are invited to apply for a scholarship by completing the Mass Media Scholarship Application located on the Mass Media Department D2L space and returning it to the department secretary by the deadline listed on the application. The incoming student scholarships will amount to at least $250 each, and will be presented through standard Financial Aid Office guidelines and procedures.

  1. To apply for incoming mass media student scholarships, a student must have a minimum of 3.0 overall GPA (B average).
  2. Students may receive multiple endowed scholarships and GPA scholarships.
  3. In addition to the GPA, students must demonstrate that they have participated in activities that are directly or indirectly related to utilization of skills developed as the result of any mass media classes.
  4. Submit a brief statement on a separate sheet of paper as to why you should be awarded a mass media scholarship.  Explain your career goals.
