Why Major in Biology at Washburn?

The biology department offers broad-based degrees in biology that prepare undergraduates for entering professional schools, including medical school and physician assistant programs. 

Our graduates also attend graduate schools, where they pursue either master's (M.A. or M.S.) degrees or doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in various subdisciplines of biology, including genetics, molecular biology, cellular biology, anatomy, physiology, botany, ecology, evolution, animal behavior, zoology, and many others.

Biology department faculty members are dedicated to providing you with the knowledge and skills to be successful in your future academic or professional pursuits. We have a proven track record in preparing our students to achieve at high levels once they graduate from Washburn. We have a high acceptance rate for those students applying to professional and graduate schools.
