Victim and Survivor Services Certificate

The Certificate of Completion is a 27 credit hour academic program that will provide a foundation of knowledge and skills needed for work with crime victims. Students must hold a minimum of a Bachelor degree by the time they complete the certificate requirements. Courses that comprise the Certificate involve an interdisciplinary examination of victim/survivor services including theoretical concepts, causes and consequences of victimization, legal aspects, treatment and prevention programs, and victim rights and policies.

Awarded upon completion of a Bachelor degree and completion of 27 credit hours as follows:

The Certificate courses are considered as both a pre-service and professional development experience. The course content will be appropriate as an undergraduate college emphasis or as career continuing education. The program is applicable to students and practitioners from most behavioral science areas. For Washburn University students, the Certificate may be completed as a part of a standard major or as a separate program of study.
