Sunflower Music Festival set for June 6-14 at Washburn University

The 28th annual Sunflower Music Festival will be June 6 to 14 in White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus. All concerts are free and open to the public. Early arrival is advised.

The Festival will feature:

  • Three chamber orchestra concerts
  • Four chamber ensemble evenings
  • Two concerts by high school and college participants of the Blanche Bryden Sunflower Music Festival Summer Institute. Collegiate performers include the Zimmer, from Sao Paulo, Brazil. 
  • Performance by Atrium Quartet, St. Petersburg, Russia (artists-in-residence)
  • Performance by Sean Jones Jazz Quartet

British conductor Catherine Larsen-Maguire will make her North American debut and will be the first female to be on the podium at the Festival. Artistic director is Charles Stegeman.

Doors to open at 6:30 p.m., except for the June 14 Blanche Bryden High School concert that begins at 3 p.m.
