Two named to Washburn Board of Regents

Two new members have been recently appointed to the Washburn University Board of Regents.

Robba Moran, of Manhattan, is an appointee of the Kansas Board of Regents. She has been a member of the Kansas Board of Regents since 2011.

Moran holds a bachelor of science in business administration degree from William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., and a juris doctor degree from Duke University. She practiced law in Kansas City and later was an assistant professor of business at Fort Hays State University.

She serves on the board of directors of Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership, Inc. and the Board of Visitors for Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University. Moran is a member of the Kansas Music Educators Association and the National Association of Music Education.

Paul Hoferer, of Topeka, is a mayoral appointee from the 20th state senatorial district, being named to the Board by Mayor Larry Wolgast.

He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri and a juris doctor degree from Washburn School of Law. Hoferer retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation as vice president and general counsel after 42 years. He is currently of-counsel with Lathrop and Gage, L.C. in Kansas City.

Hoferer is currently president of the Washburn Law School Alumni Association Board of Governors and chairman of the Law School Capital Campaign Task Force. He has been recognized by the Washburn School of Law with the Distinguished Service Award and named an Alumni Fellow by the Washburn Alumni Association.

By law (KSA 13-13a01 et seq,), Washburn University is governed by a nine member Board of Regents. The Governor appoints three members who serve staggered four year terms. Washburn University offers more than 200 programs leading to certification, associate, bachelor, master, doctor of nursing practice and juris doctor degrees through the College of Arts and Sciences and the schools of Applied Studies, Business, Law and Nursing.
