Harry Craig, owner, Craig Group, Inc., and past member, Washburn Board of Regents, and Maynard Oliverius, past president and CEO, Stormont-Vail HealthCare will serve as Fall 2013 Ruth Garvey Cochener Fink Professors of Leadership at Washburn University. Craig and Oliverius will share their experience and leadership insights as guest lecturers. They also will mentor students in small groups within the Leadership Institute, School of Applied Studies, School of Business, School of Law and School of Nursing.
“Mr. Craig and Mr. Oliverius are proven, successful and well respected leaders. We are so pleased they are willing to devote their time on behalf of our students,” said Jerry Farley, president, Washburn. “Washburn students will gain great insights into the practice of leadership from these two gentlemen. We are grateful for the generous gifts that have made these leadership learning opportunities available for our students.”
This is the first year Washburn has had these professorships, which are supported through the Ruth Garvey Cochener Fink Visiting Professorship in Leadership funds. The funds are used to attract a prominent visiting professor to teach courses and serve as guest lecturer(s) for other classes, community and civic groups.
“I am excited by the opportunity we have to bring the leadership experiences of the Fink Professors into the classroom, to really help bring to life the leadership concepts we discuss in our classes,” said Michael Gleason, director, Washburn Leadership Institute. “It is inspiring to see the commitment these gentlemen have to help develop rising leaders.”
