The annual Washburn Tech Job Fair will be held Thursday, April 11th for employers to meet Washburn Tech students and soon-to-be graduates seeking employment.  Over 20 employers and agencies representing manufacturing, construction, health care, employment services, entertainment, and public services are participating.

The job fair is an opportunity for the approximately 900 students at Washburn Tech to acquire information about employment as well as the chance to distribute their resumes and promote their skills to potential employers.  Washburn Tech also supports its students’ employment search by offering on-site coaching of students with cover letter and resume assistance, interview preparation and coaching, mock interviewing, job search assistance, and offer negotiating.  Career Center services for Washburn Tech students were expanded in 2012 through a new partnership with Premier Employment Solutions and Key Staffing.

Washburn Tech’s partnerships with area businesses and industries continue to provide great benefits to our students, graduates, area employers and the Northeast Kansas area.  The Career Fair brings together those students and potential employers in order to support our region.

Washburn Tech is a 2-year institution where students can obtain relevant technical skills, taught by highly skilled, knowledgeable instructors that prepare them for the job market.  Approximately 90 percent of our graduates go either into jobs related to their training, into the military, or go on to further their education.

Washburn Tech offers 25 technical programs, most of which are about 48 credits in length, in one of five divisions – Construction, Health Care, Transportation, Human Services, and Technology.  In addition, short-term continuing education and custom courses are offered.  Washburn Tech, which serves post-secondary and high school students, has one of the highest graduation rates of any public technical institution in Kansas, 83 percent.  To inquire about technical programs or future courses please contact Washburn Tech at 785.273.7140 or visit our website, www.washburntech.edu.
