Washburn alumnus plans WUper Bowl party to cheer on Ichabods playing in Super Bowl XLVII

Are you ready for some football? John Haverty, Washburn alumnus and president, Washburn Alumni Association Board, and his wife Carrie are hosting a WUper Bowl party on Sunday, Feb. 3 in honor of two Ichabods playing in Super Bowl XLVII. The Haverty’s plan to cheer on Washburn’s former football players, San Francisco’s Michael Wilhoite and Baltimore’s Cary Williams, by decorating their house with Washburn flags, wearing Ichabod t-shirts and making Ichabod cookies, with an Ichabod cookie cutter sold in the Ichabod Shop, and frosting them with Baltimore and San Francisco team colors and the player’s numbers.

The Haverty’s are one great example of Washburn alumni throughout the world who will be rooting on our Ichabods during the Super Bowl,” said Susie Hoffmann, director, Washburn Alumni Association.

Wilhoite and Williams are the first Ichabods to play in the Super Bowl and Washburn is among only four other schools (Alabama, Auburn, Flordia and Georgia) that have two former players representing their schools in Super Bowl XLVII. Learn more about Wilhoite and Williams at
