The public is invited to the Washburn Tech Career Training Opportunities Open House, Friday March 30 from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the back of the Highland Community College facility, 430 South U.S. 75 in Holton. Visitors will be able to uncover well-paying career opportunities in high demand fields, learn what training employers require, meet instructors, and more.
Highlighted careers and training programs at the Career Training Opportunities Open House will be Auto Service Technician, Advanced Systems Technician, Machine Tool, Cabinet/Mill, Building Technology, Commercial Construction, and Collision Repair. Instructors will be available to answer questions about career opportunities for graduates as well as training students receive through Washburn Tech. Area residents are invited to tour the Washburn Tech Auto Service Technician program area at the Highland facility in Holton during the Open House.
Washburn Tech is a 2-year institution where students can obtain relevant technical skills, taught by highly skilled, knowledgeable instructors, which prepare them for the job market. Approximately 90 percent of our graduates go either into jobs related to their training, into the military, or go on to further their education.
Washburn Tech offers 25 technical programs, most of which are about 48 credits in length, in one of five divisions - Construction, Health Care, Transportation, Human Services, and Technology. In addition, short-term continuing education and custom courses are also offered.
