Vacancy - Lecturer in Applied Violin

Washburn University’s Department of Music is seeking applications for the position of Lecturer in Applied Violin beginning August 1, 2018. This position is a nine-month, full-time appointment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Violin; ABD considered.
  • Professional performing experience (orchestral, solo, and chamber).
  • Classroom teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience recruiting students at the university level.
  • Experience in teaching applied viola.
  • Experience in teaching and developing youth string programs.
  • Public School teaching experience.


  • Teach Applied Violin.
  • Recruitment of violin and string area students.
  • Serve as faculty coach for the Fetter String Quartet.
  • Teach additional music courses as needed by the department that fit the candidate’s qualifications.
  • Expected to contribute to the life of the department and university by maintaining an active level of professional activity in performance, assist in recruiting and through scholarship and service activities.
