Faculty-Led Study Abroad
The Office of International Programs (OIP) welcomes Washburn's faculty to develop and lead study abroad programs. If you would like to learn more about taking your classroom global please contact us at studyabroad@washburn.edu.
The Faculty-led Study Abroad Program Development Guide contains a suggested seven-month guideline for developing a program.
The Faculty-led Study Abroad Program Proposal Packet is required for all new and repeat programs. Below is a link to download the fillable proposal documents. Submit a completed proposal packet to the OIP which is located in the International House. Program reviews begin on July 1st for the upcoming academic year. It is important to submit your proposals as early as possible as a limited amount of scholarship funds are available.

Study Abroad Faculty Workshops

"International Opportunities for Faculty" - Are you interested in bringing the world to your classroom? This workshop will highlight international resources available to WU Faculty such as an International Sweet Sabbatical, Magellan Faculty Exchange, and funding available for scholarly /creative presentations and uncompensated teaching through the International Travel Fund. Faculty will share how they incorporate their international experience into curriculum development and International Programs Staff will share the process of applying and navigating the logistics on and off campus.

"Program Development" - Are you interested in developing a faculty-led program, but not sure how to get started? Then this workshop is for you! Bring your ideas and questions. A copy of the Study Abroad Program Development Guide and Program Proposal will be provided, along with additional instructions for completing the proposal process. First time program leaders and assistants are encouraged to attend.

International Travel Fund
International Travel Fund
The fund is available only to full-time faculty members on tenure track and librarians with faculty status. This fund is available only to support travel abroad for presenting scholarly and creative work and invited unpaid teaching/conducting master classes/seminars/workshops. Mere attendance at a conference does not qualify for funding.Phi Beta Delta (PBD) is an honor society for international scholars.
