First Year Advising

The First Year Experience (FYE) program at Washburn University consists of many components, all of which lead to a first-year student’s success.

The program is designed to help you get comfortable on campus, connect with the university, and begin your road to academic success at Washburn University.

Academic Advising your first year is a time to learn many new things.  Our goals for students are the following:

  • Learn the University Requirements
  • Learn the general education requirements
  • Know what resources are available to help choose a major
  • Value the learning process in higher education
  • Know what tutoring resources are available
  • Develop a relationship with your academic advisor
  • Enroll in a timely manner
  • Understand your abilities and interests
  • Know how to use my.washburn.edu
