Political Science is the study of governments, public policies and political behavior using both humanistic and scientific perspectives and skills to examine the countries and regions of the world. See APSA for more information.
The department of political science offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Public Administration degree. In addition, the department offers a certificate of non-profit management, and houses limited offerings in geography.
Political science is the academic discipline that enables its students to understand, analyze, and if you’re willing to do the work, change the way in which law and public policy affects and changes your life, the life of your community, and the world in which you live.
It is a discipline within something called the liberal arts. Like the other liberal arts, if you prove to be a capable and interested student, political science will give you the skills to critically assess ideas presented to you, skillfully present your ideas to others, and to use skills of observation and investigation to gain a rational understanding of the seemingly “blooming buzzing confusion” that is the world we inhabit.
