PPST/Pre-Professional Skills Test Information for 2013-2014

What Are the Praxis 1 tests?

PRAXIS 1 Pre-professional Skills Test (PPST) measures basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics.

The PPST is used to qualify candidates for entry into the Washburn University Professional Teacher Education Program.

How Are the Praxis 1 Tests Given?

The Praxis 1 tests are delivered in both computer and paper formats. They are administered through Prometrics Testing Center and on the Washburn University campus.

  • Computer-delivered tests are administered year-round by appointment. Some tests are offered continuously and others are offered during specific testing windows. Please see Computer delivered Test Centers and Dates for more information about when and where tests are offered.
Prometrics Testing Center is located in Topeka at 2800 SW Wanamaker, Suite 140, 785-272-7500.
The computer center at the University of Kansas is located at Wadkins Health Center, 785-864-2772.
  • Paper-delivered tests are administered on pre-scheduled dates throughout the schoolyear. Test dates on the Washburn campus are November 2, 2013 and March 8, 2014.

The fee to register for a single PRAXIS I:Pre-professional Skills Test is $85.00. 

The fee to register for the combined PRAXIS :Pre-professional Skills Test is $135.00 and the test code is 5750.

Test takers must first create an account (on the ETS website) in order to register for a PRAXIS I:Pre-professional Skills Test and to schedule a time to take the test at the Prometric Test Center in Topeka.
