Ruth N. Owens – Jurgens holds a Master Degree in Psychology (Clinical Emphasis) from Emporia State University. She spent 5 years as the Addictions and Prevention Service Program (APS) Specialist at Allen Community College where she taught both face-to-face and online in the APS program. Ruth also has over 25 years working in the profession of treating Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health in outpatient facilities and Substance Use Disorders in a Residential treatment program. Ruth worked closely with KDADS/BHS in developing the required training for Peer Mentoring Certification in Kansas. She has provided training for the last five years for recovering persons seeking to become a Kansas Certified Peer Mentor.
