Mabee Library updates support student success

Mabee Library logo in neon light with words OPEN 24/5

You asked for it and Mabee Library has responded. The library is now open continuously during the week.

The latest change compliments a number of recent updates and plans aimed at supporting every Ichabod’s success.

Mabee Library’s new hours, which began Sunday, are 1 p.m. Sundays to 6 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. For security reasons, a current Washburn iCard is required to enter the library from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Continuous hours are made possible because of support from the Washburn Police Department, facilities services and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Mabee Library began offering continuous hours during finals week more than five years ago. The continuous hours will run at least through the current semester.

Physical updates and additions to Mabee, which were completed in the fall and will be highlighted during open house tours from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 5, include:

  • An enhanced Tutoring and Writing Center, which has experienced a significant increase in student visits since it opened in October.
  • Group study space
  • Technology, including a new digital classroom with 25 computers
  • And the relocation of general academic advisors into the library from Morgan Hall as part of the renovated Center for Student Success.

If you haven’t stopped by Mabee Library lately, make a point to do so this week.
