Hermosos Huesos

Who
Wayne Hilton

What
In partnership with the Tonantzin Society, the Mulvane will present an exhibition of works by Wayne Hilton. Several years ago mixed-media artist Wayne Hilton started his HERMOSOS HUESOS Project for which he crafts intricate calaveras (skeletons), inspired by the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, and, specifically, “La Calavera Catrina” (elegant skeleton) by illustrator Jose Guadalupe Posada. An homage to the centennial anniversary of Posada’s death, the project has grown into an extensive and elaborately detailed exhibition, consisting of 13 individual installations and a book.  The Hermosos Huesos will be exhibited at the Mulvane Art Museum as part of the annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration.
