Windows 7 Implementation

Microsoft is phasing out support for Windows XP, the version running on most Washburn PCs, so ISS staff are offering assistance with the transition to Windows 7. The Faculty IT Advisory Council and Technical Support Center support the following migration process (click here for a more detailed version):

  • Windows 7 is installed on PCs in Bennett 102 for those wishing to try the new software.
  • All lab and mediated classroom PCs have been upgraded to Windows 7.
  • All new PCs will be ordered with Windows 7.
  • The Windows 7 installation schedule for PCs in faculty and staff offices has not been finalized, but upgrades can be requested by calling ISS @ 3000. Some older systems will continue to run Windows XP until replaced during the annual technology refresh cycle.

If you have any questions or would like individualized training on Windows 7 you can contact the PC Techs at support@washburn.edu or 670-3000 or Sue Taylor at sue.taylor@washburn.edu or 670-1856.
