"I found Washburn to be like a large university with all of its activities, organizations, and resources for students and faculty yet the campus and classrooms maintained the feel of a small college. I was known by many professors by face and name even outside of class and they were always available for help or even to chat. Washburn afforded me many opportunities to showcase my successes. Both the Education and the Mathematics Departments have the best faculty anyone could want." Fred Hollingshead class of 2005

360 Teaching

When the teacher becomes the audience and the students become the actors, you have 360 Degree Learning in place! 360 Degree Learning is a teaching strategy which allows students to display their work and thinking on white boards which encircle the classroom. Work at the boards may be done independently, with a partner, and/or collaboratively. As students write responses on the white boards, the teacher coaches and scaffolds them toward mastery of the content. Teachers are also able to perform on-going formative checks per students' responses which drives future instructional decisions. 360 Degree Learning allows all types of learners to become actively engaged in the learning process while receiving ongoing feedback which ultimately leads to academic success!
