Washburn Lives United

Washburn Live United logoUnderneath everything we are, underneath everything we do, we are all people. Connected, interdependent, united. And when we reach out a hand to one, WE INFLUENCE THE CONDITION OF ALL. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED.

Why do Washburn faculty and staff support United Way?

United Way’s Community Impact Fund addresses the underlining cause of the most serious human needs in our community.  The result is lasting change in people’s lives.

Donating to United Way maximizes contributions by combining it with thousands of others to:

  • Help children have the opportunity to learn in safe, positive environments.
  • Ensure youth have the life skills to become successful, community minded adults.
  • Provide services that promote self-sufficiency.
  • Respond to the emergency needs of the community.
  • Make sure adults and seniors are able to remain independent and enrich their lives and the lives of others.

Investing in the Community Impact Fund provides the full range of services and programs to respond to people’s immediate needs and also prevent those needs in the future. Other facts about giving to the United Way are:

  • United Way’s overhead costs are only approximately 12 percent and are considered very low by the Better Business Bureau.
  • United Way works efficiently – more than 88 percent of each dollar directly improves lives.
  • United Way is focused on the most serious needs in the community.

Take a stand, lend a hand.
