When longtime professor and dean of women Charlotte Mendell Leavitt recommended non nobis solum as Washburn’s motto more than a century ago, she envisioned a school that had a tremendous impact on its students, alumni and the community.
As the university celebrates the countdown to our sesquicentennial in 2015, we continue to take the motto, translated as “not for ourselves alone,” to heart.
Washburn continues to give back to alumni and friends, from hosting signature events such as our Alumni Fellows and Awards programs, to our service to the community, to numerous other activities.
Serving more than 3,000 dues-paid members, the Washburn Alumni Association nurtures and supports the relationship between alumni and the university.
We keep you informed on university activities and bring the alumni together to promote fellowship and serve your alma mater.
We also offer traveling opportunities several times a year, including trips to countries across the globe.

The Alumni Association hosts the Top of the Tower luncheon every other month at the Bank of America building in downtown Topeka. Join us on March 26 for a soup and salad buffet and guest speaker Alan Bearman, dean of libraries. The cost of the luncheon is $10 per person.Register now
