Student Employment

Federal Work-Study Employment (FWS)

FWS is a need-based program that provides jobs for undergraduate students with financial need allowing them to earn money to pay educational expenses. Students are awarded a maximum amount to earn during the school year by working up to 10-15 hours per week at the federal minimum wage. Students at Washburn University are paid bi-weekly. (Awards are based on priority deadline of February 15 and availability of funds.) You may access the job listings for FWS positions on your MyWashburn account under the Financial Services tab. 

Departmental Positions

Departments on Washburn University campus may hire students with funds that are not FWS. These positions are open for any student to apply.  Student’s number of work hours may vary but are usually between 10-15 hours per week and positions are paid at the federal minimum wage.  You may access the job listings for FWS positions on your MyWashburn account under the Financial Services tab. 

Employment as a student employee is contingent upon a satisfactory background check which shall include a search of the Kansas Offender Registry.
