Morgan Hall will be renovated beginning in February 2014 to become Washburn University's "front door."
Morgan Hall has served as both an academic and administrative hub since it opened in 1956. The multimillion dollar renovation will result in a 21st Century space all Ichabods -- past, current and future -- will be proud of. A new one-stop center will enable students to apply for admission, meet with an advisor and register for classes, learn about scholarships and other financial aid, pay tuition and more.
A new plaza on the building's north side, facing 17th Street, will make Morgan Hall and the Welcome Center the obvious front door of campus. The new Welcome Center is expected to be dedicated in 2015 in celebration of the university's sesquicentennial.
Renovation preparations begin
McPherson Contractors have been issued notice to proceed on the Morgan Hall/Welcome Center construction project. Soon, you will see a fence, barricades and construction trailer added to campus, north of Morgan Hall, and you will begin to see contractors in the building.
