Top of the Tower

There are many opportunities to engage with fellow alumni and stay involved with Washburn University at any of our events held on campus, throughout Kansas and across the country.

Washburn Wednesday - monthly - 2nd Wednesday

Join fellow Ichabods the second Wednesday of every in Kansas City and Wichita. No RSVP is required and complimentary appetizers are provided.

Ichabod Baseball Tailgate - Topeka - May 7, 2016

Join us at Falley Field on the Washburn campus for an afternoon cheering on the Ichabods when they play Central Missouri on Saturday, May 7. Tailgate and game begin at 4 p.m. The event is free for dues-paid members of the Alumni Association and children age 12 and under. The cost for non-members is $5. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and beverages while supplies last. Bring the family for an afternoon with the Ichabods!

Washburn Day at the K - Kansas City - June 19, 2016

Spend Father's Day at the K with the Alumni Association.

Kansas City Royals vs. Detroit Tigers
9:30 a.m. - Bus leaves Washburn campus
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Pregame Tailgate
1:15 p.m. - Game

Bus Ride - $20 per person
Tailgate ticket - $7 per person (children 5 and younger eat free)
Lower Level Seating - $34 per ticket
Upper Level Seating - $15 per ticket
Extra T-shirt - $10 ea.

The Washburn Alumni Association has reserved seats in both upper and lower level sections at Kauffman Stadium so Washburn families can enjoy the game together. Everyone who purchases a game ticket through the Alumni Assocation receives a free T-shirt. We're providing private motorcoach transportation from the Washburn campus to Kauffman Stadium and also a pregame tailgate party. Join the Ichabod mascot at the tailgate party and enjoy burnt ends, fried chicken, cheesy corn bake, creamy cole slaw, dinner rolls, and iced tea, water, or beer. Thanks to the generosity of UMB Bank, Hutchins & Haake, LLC, and Kuckelman Torline Kirkland and Lewis for sponsoring this event.

Football Tailgates - Topeka - Saturdays in the Fall

The Alumni Association hosts a tailgate 90 minutes before every home football game just north of Moore Bowl in the tailgate parking lot. Look for "Washburn Alumni Association" tents.

During tailgates, we serve hot dogs, chips, cookies, water and beer free of charge to dues-paid members of the Alumni Association. The cost is $5 for non-members.

  • Saturday, Nov. 12: Emporia State

Top of the Tower Luncheon - Topeka - TBA

The 2015-16 season of Top of the Tower Luncheon is over. Check back for the 2016-17 lineup.

The Top of the Tower luncheon is held in downtown Topeka and provides networking opportunities with other Ichabods while hearing a speaker or panel discuss topics concerning Washburn and Topeka. The series is co-sponsored by the Washburn University Alumni Association and the Washburn School of Law Alumni Association. Watch for future Top of the Tower luncheons as they are announced.

Arizona Events - TBA

Washburn President Jerry Farley and the Alumni Association were in Phoenix on Feb. 20, 2016, and in Tucson on Feb. 21, 2016. Dozens of Ichabods in the area gathered to reminisce about Washburn and learn first hand about all the great things happening on campus. Texas Events - TBA

The Alumni Association visted Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth in April, 2016. Check back for information on future visits.

Chicago Event - TBA

The Alumni Association was in Chicago on April 27, 2016, with Dr. Jerry Farley, president, Washburn University, and Thomas Romig, dean, Washburn University School of Law, along with hosts Bill Malloy, ba ’74, and Mary Hanisch, jd ’06, to network and reconnect with fellow Washburn alumni in the Chicago area.

Lawrence Event - TBA

The Alumni Association hosted a gathering at a wine-tasting event May 5, 2015, at the Eldridge Hotel on Massachusetts Street in Lawrence. Held in the Big 6 Room, the event included wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres at a cost of $20.

Kansas City Ameristar Event - TBA

Once every 18 months, the Alumni Association and alumnus Troy Stremming, bba '91, jd '94, host a gathering at the Ameristar Casino located at 200 N. Ameristar Drive, Kansas City, MO 64161.

Each year, we travel to Colbert Hills and visit with Manhattan-area alumni and friends. Meet other Ichabods who live in the area and learn about all the great things happening on campus.
