Application and admissions
Whether you are new to health care or are a working clinician, the BHS program will help you advance your career. Students must apply for program admission and must meet minimum GPA requirements (2.5 on a 4.0 scale).
Students who have earned an associate degree in an allied health discipline or are credentialed, licensed or a registered health professional are eligible for admission.
Students without a health care background are required to complete four to five prerequisite courses prior to applying to the BHS program.
Admissions Requirements
You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and Washburn GPA of 2.25 (if applicable) on a 4.00 scale. You must have completed the Washburn math equivalent of MA 112, Contemporary Mathematics or MA 116, College Algebra.
There are two options for acceptance. You must meet one of the following criteria:
OPTION 1) You must have 45 Completed College Credit Hours (including the following courses or equivalent with a grade of "C" or higher)
- AL 101 Foundations of Healthcare
- AL 320 Human Disease
- AL 355 Basic Concepts in Health Services Administration
Plus ONE of the following (or equivalent):
- BI 230 Intro to Human Physiology
- BI 255 Human Physiology w/Lab
- BI 250 Intro to Human Anatomy
- BI 275 Human Anatomy w/Lab
OR
OPTION 2) You must be accepted into an approved healthcare program or have earned an Associate degree or higher in a healthcare discipline. Some examples include:
Respiratory Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, Health Information Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Surgical Technology
You must also provide documentation that you are credentialed, licensed or registered in a healthcare profession.
