The WU Human Services Department offers an emphasis area in Youth Services with its Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Human Services. Human Services courses at the undergraduate level combine general education, human services coursework and internships, along with an emphasis area that includes 15 hours of coursework. The emphasis in Youth Services takes a multidisciplinary perspective, with courses such as Introduction to Youth Services, Youth and Violence, and Disability and Resilience in Youth. Students also have the opportunity to explore other areas as they pertain to youth, such as addictions, victim/survivor services, and mental health. Coursework provides knowledge and skills to help students learn ways to address the needs of youth at the individual, family, and community level.
