Whether you’re a high school senior, a community college student, a parent, or a working person who wants to further your education, the path to college enrollment can feel like another full-time job. We encourage you to contact the Office of Admissions and let us demystify the process for you. In general, we recommend future students observe the following schedule:
Summer is an excellent time to make contact with Washburn. High school juniors, high school seniors, and transfer students alike benefit from using the downtime from school to visit campuses and gather information about colleges. To arrange your visit to Washburn, call 785.670.1030.
High school students should make plans to take the ACT. Use school code 1474 to send your scores to Washburn. August is not too early to begin filling out college applications, either. For assistance, call the Office of Admissions at 785.670.1030.
You didn’t get a chance to visit over the summer? October is a great time to come and see us. The foliage is quite pretty, and the place is bustling with Ichabods. Call us at 785.670.1030.
Transfer students also have their own opportunity to get together in October. Register for Ichabod Transfer Day.
October is also a great time to complete your admissions file. Complete your file now, and we’ll have everything we need well in advance of our February 15 scholarship deadline. Call the Office of Admissions at 785.670.1030 to find out what we’re missing from you.
If you’re a high school senior with a GPA above 3.5, you should take the Garvey Exam, a competitive exam that could qualify you for a scholarship ranging from $500-2,000.
Spring transfer students should take advantage of an early opportunity to enroll at Transfer Student Orientation.
Sign up for your financial aid PIN. The PIN is your electronic signature for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Fill out your FAFSA. Our priority deadline for federal financial aid is February 15, but funds for certain programs run out in advance of that date. The earlier you apply, the better the award package. Call 785.670.1151 for assistance.
February is a big month at Washburn. Complete your admissions file by February 15 for scholarship consideration, and submit your FAFSA by the February 15 priority deadline.
Mid-February, the Residential Living Office makes housing contracts available. Our rooms fill up quickly, so submit your contract early!
High school juniors should also visit us for Ichabod Junior Days.
Junior days continue!
The last of the junior days. Fall transfer students should take advantage of an early opportunity to enroll at Transfer Student Orientation.
