Developers have been actively growing commerce and art districts in Topeka with exciting projects taking shape recently. The Topeka community has responded with great support and interest. Join the Washburn Alumni Association as we discuss this development at a Top of the Tower luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016. A panel of Washburn alumni and friends integral in these developments will discuss projects at the riverfront, downtown and NOTO.
Cody Foster, ba ’99, will talk about his newest project, Cyrus Hotel Topeka, an upscale hotel and restaurant being constructed in the 900 block of S Kansas Ave. in downtown Topeka. Jenny Torrence, bba ’00, will represent the NOTO Arts District where she owns restaurant NOTO Burrito, event space Serendipity, boutique Pinkadilly Home Accessories, and gallery space for local artists. Beth Fager, a longtime community advocate, is the chair of the Topeka and Shawnee County Riverfront Authority. She will talk about development along the Kansas River including an Oregon Trail Riverfront Park. Ashley Charest, ba ’99, mba ’06, will moderate the event.
The Top of the Tower luncheon is held in downtown Topeka and provides networking opportunities with other Ichabods while hearing a speaker or panel discuss topics concerning Washburn and Topeka. The series is co-sponsored by the Washburn University Alumni Association and the Washburn School of Law Alumni Association. Watch for future Top of the Tower luncheons as they are announced.
