You should complete an undergraduate application if:

  • you possess a high school diploma or GED
  • you are seeking a Bachelor's degree
  • you are transferring from another institution

Financial Aid

Washburn University recognizes the important role of financial aid in your decision to pursue higher education.  The Washburn University Financial Aid Office assist you with the process of applying for and receiving financial aid, providing quality service and personal guidance to all students.  Visit the Financial Aid page for a wide array of information and resources.

Washburn University students have many financial aid options available to help with the cost of education, including work-study, student loans, grants and scholarships.  Funding sources include the federal government the state of Kansas, Washburn University and the Washburn University Foundation.

To qualify for federal financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?  Washburn University’s federal school code is 001949.  If completing the FAFSA online, the student and one parent (for dependent students) will need to request a PIN at pin.edu.gov.  The priority submission date is February 15.

Scholarships at Washburn University

Paying for college may seem like a challenge, but Washburn University offers a number of scholarships to keep your education affordable. Most freshmen are eligible to receive academic scholarships, and the Office of Admissions also awards scholarships to transfer students.  Special scholarships are available according to students’ interests and achievements. Many academic departments offer scholarships to undergraduates, too.  Washburn's scholarship deadline is February 15, but we award scholarships on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The sooner you apply, the better chance you will have of receiving an award. 

Washburn University makes applying for scholarships easy.  Simply complete your application file by February 15.

For freshmen, a complete application file includes the application for admission; a one-time, $20 application fee; official high school transcript; and official ACT scores. 

For transfer students, a complete application file includes the application for admission; a one-time, $20 application fee; and official transcripts from EACH post-secondary school the student has attended.
