Specially equipped laboratories enhance the preparation and learning experiences for service to the community. The exercise physiology laboratory is the site of physical fitness testing and houses three bicycle ergonometers, a treadmill, and an underwater weighing tank. In the biofeedback lab, multiple physical responses to stress are measured by heart rate, electromyography, temperature and electrodermal machines. The motor development lab provides for the development and remediation of motor skills in children. A fully equipped athletic training room is used for treatment and rehabilitation of injuries to Washburn athletes, in addition to serving as a site for hands-on learning experiences for students in the athletic training concentration.
In addition to the Petro Center, the Kinesiology Department makes use of several other campus physical education facilities.
