Washburn University recognized as top ranked public master's level university in state by US News and World Report's America's Best Colleges

Washburn University is the top ranked public master’s level university in Kansas according to the America's Best Colleges rankings released today by U.S. News and World Report.

Additional attributes:

  • The University was named one of the top 20 public institutions in the Midwest.
  • Washburn ranked 70th out of 149 public and private master’s level institutions in the Midwest.
  • The University has been named a US News and World Report Best College in 2013.
  • Washburn ranks third among regional universities in the Midwest of students graduating with the least debt.  Washburn students graduate with an average debt of $17,970.

Background information:

  • U.S. News assigns public and private institutions to a group of their peers, based on Carnegie classification. In the Best Colleges 2013 edition, schools are designated national universities, national liberal arts colleges, regional universities and regional colleges.
  • Washburn is in the regional university category.  These institutions provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s programs, but offer few, if any, doctoral programs.
