Intensive English Program (IEP)

Intensive English Program Mission Statement: The mission of the Intensive English Program (IEP) is to offer leveled English language courses to prepare international students and other non-native English speakers for success in degree programs at the university and other academic and community settings.  The IEP is committed to supporting the university’s values of academic excellence and cross-cultural understanding .

Academic Calendar for 2015-2016

  • Spring 2016: Courses begin January 16th and end May 13th
  • Summer 2016:
    • Early Session - May 31 to June 30
    • Full Session - May 31 to July 21
    • Late Session - July 5 to August 4
  • English Proficiency Test - August 16, 2016 in Henderson 112 at 9:00 a.m.  Contact kelly.mcclendon@washburn.edu to register and reserve a seat.
  • Fall 2016: Courses begin August 22nd and end December 16th
  • Spring 2017: Courses begin January 17th and end May 12th

Tuition for 2015-2016

  • Out-of-state residents and international students: $7,056 USD for 12 credit hours per semester, which is 18 hours in the classroom per week.
  • In-state residents: $864 USD for each 3-credit course per semester.

FREE COMMUNITY ESL CLASSES & TUTORING

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm - 3pm and 3pm - 5pm during Fall and Spring semesters. Classes begin early September 2016. These classes are sponsored by the International Center of Topeka, Inc.(ICT) and are not accredited under Washburn's IEP.
