Fall Family Day activities scheduled by Mulvane Art Museum

TOPEKA – Two Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations will kick off the 2012 Family Days events at the Mulvane Art Museum’s ArtLab.  All events are free and open to the public.

Saturday, Oct. 27, 1 – 4 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 2, 5 – 8 p.m.: Dia de los Muertos Family Day:  Create a tissue paper papel picado, bandera, tissue marigolds and miniature retablos and ofrendas to celebrate the Day of the Dead.

Saturday, Nov. 17, 1 – 4 p.m.: Sock Monkey Family Day:  Visit our friends from the Red Heel Sock Monkey Rescue Shelter at the Museum then swing down to the ArtLab to make a special art project.

The ArtLab is located in the lower level of Garvey Fine Arts Center at 17th & Jewell Streets.  Museum, ArtLab and gift shop hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  No admission is charged.  The museum is closed major holidays.

Free parking is available in the lot west of the museum.
