Classified Position Openings

All University employees who are paid on an hourly basis are considered "Classified." The application procedures for these positions require that you submit a completed Washburn University Application for Employment to the Human Resources Department. Applications are kept on file for 90 days from the date of receipt.  Applicants can request that their Application be copied and submitted for other classified recruitments within that 90 day period by contacting Human Resources.  New vacancies are advertised in the Sunday edition of the Topeka Capital-Journal as well as numerous placement offices and employment organizations.

High school diploma or GED.  3 years of experience providing administrative support, or completion of a course of study at the post-secondary level in Office Management/Support and 2 years of experience providing administrative support, or college degree and 12 months of experience providing administrative support. Strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to read, interpret and apply policies, regulations and procedures.

Employment at Washburn University and Washburn Tech will be conditioned upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.

Entry rate is $12.98 per hour commensurate with experience.

University Police Officer, 3/4 Time

High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 21 years of age with no arrests for domestic violence, stalking, dating violence or any classification of these crimes, and no convictions for any felony crime. Ability to work any shift/hours as assigned and to respond to emergency call-back in a reasonable amount of time.  Valid class C Kansas driver's license with acceptable driving record under University standards.  Certification from the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training as mandated by state law at or within 6 months of hire.

Must be at least 21 years of age with no arrests for domestic violence, stalking, dating violence or any classification of these crimes, and no convictions for any felony crime.

Custodial Supervisor I

High school diploma or GED. Experience in custodial services and supervision.  Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.  Ability to interpret room diagrams, direct room set-ups and demonstrate housekeeping, lifting and moving techniques.
