Newly transplanted to the Topeka area, Alizabeth hails from northern Missouri. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Truman State University. She has spent the past several years working with first-generation college students through Trio programming. As an admissions counselor for Washburn University, she will be visiting southeast Kansas and many Missouri schools. As a Missouri girl, she is looking forward to informing students from neighboring states about the exciting opportunities WU has for them. When Alizabeth isn’t working she enjoys running, cooking, and reading.
After spending the first 18 years of her life in small-town Ellinwood, Kan., Abby moved to pursue her college career at the University of Kansas. She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism: Mass Communications. As a Washburn Admissions Counselor, Abby tours the southwest portion of the state searching for the next generation of Ichabods. Locally, she serves students from Hayden High School, Rossville High School, Silver Lake High School and Seaman High School. She loves being able to talk to students about the numerous scholarship opportunities Washburn has available. For fun, Abby enjoys traveling to white, sandy beaches and spending time with her little sister Ava, who is a kindergartener in Ellinwood.
Leah is a Topeka native having graduated from Topeka West High School. In 2009, Leah completed her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media with a minor in French from Washburn University. Having transferred in to complete her degree, Leah will work with transfer students and give a firsthand account of making the move to become an Ichabod. When not working, Leah enjoys reading suspense novels and spending time with family and friends.
Matt is from Sabetha, Kansas. He graduated from Washburn University in 2011 with a BBA in Marketing and a BA in Kinesiology, happy with what he’d accomplished with the help of Washburn’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic faculty. As an Admissions Counselor, he has enjoyed being able to remain close to campus and involved in campus life. A self-proclaimed “small-town kid,” he loves working with students in his recruitment territory, northwest Kansas. When he’s not working, he likes to play basketball, golf, and guitar; watch sitcoms; and completely nerd out for Harry Potter.
