Social Work

Social Work

If you're looking for career training in the very broad field of social services, you should consider the profession of social work.  Social workers serve individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities, and they practice in a large number of settings: clinics, hospitals, mental health agencies, schools, prisons, youth centers, nursing homes, etc.

Why Major in Social Work at Washburn?

We offer small size classes taught by faculty members who possess a great amount of practical experience.  We provide one-on-one attention, and assign a faculty advisor who will meet with you on a regularly scheduled basis to discuss topics such as course selection, practicum placements, and career planning.  The bachelor degree program (BSW) and masters degree program (MSW) are nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and our graduates consistently have success in acquiring rewarding jobs in local, regional, and national social service agencies.
